 Outfox for Extra Life

Outfox Raises Over $4,000 for Extra Life

The Outfox team was excited to join the Extra Life 24-hour gaming marathon for the first time this year. Every year, Extra Life raises millions of dollars to help sick kids through Children's Miracle Network hospitals and this year is no exception, with over $7,300,370 raised by the end of game day. Teams large and small helped contribute to this record-breaking total that topped last year's fundraising by $700,000.

Why We're Supporting Extra Life

With so many great causes to support, why did we choose to jump in the game with Extra Life?

Mission Alignment: We built Outfox to give gamers the tools to improve their experience doing whatever they love online, including gaming. Extra Life does the same by bringing together gamers around the world to do what they love and support a great cause.

Core Values: One of our core values is engagement, which means we strive to be accessible and to connect with the gaming community. Extra Life gives us the opportunity to engage with an organization that supports families in our local community.

Team Outfox

The Outfox team was made up of a dozen dedicated gamers from throughout Golden Frog and our sister companies. After meeting Megan from Dell Children's Medical Center at the RTX Gaming Expo in Austin, we invited her to our office for an Outfox team lunch. She shared stories of how Extra Life was started and how Dell Children's impacts the lives of children and families right in the Austin area. After that meeting, the Outfox team was pumped to get started fundraising for an awesome cause.

We set a team goal of $2,000 and decided to have our own 24-hour gaming marathon right in the office. Outfox office LAN parties are the stuff of legends, and we knew this one would raise the bar. Team members reached out to friends, family and the Outfox community, and began fundraising both online and in the office. We even held an Outfox Extra Life bake sale, where we swapped sweet treats in exchange for donations. The generosity from our coworkers and others in our building was astounding (as was Samuel's peanut butter fudge) and by the end of the day we'd raised over $500 - far exceeding expectations.

Game Day

Starting at 9 AM on Friday, November 3 the Outfox team began our epic 24-hour gaming marathon livestream on Twitch. Throughout the day, various team members contributed their time to play games and stream for our team. We have an awesome variety of gamers here in the office who played everything from PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS to League of Legends and even some Destiny 2. At the end of the work day, before our overnight LAN, we had a special guest drop by the party! Megan from Dell Children's joined us to chat on Twitch and share a bit about her amazing job. By that time we'd raised $1,852 toward our goal, but we had an extra special surprise for Megan. Due to the generosity of our company leadership, we were able to present a company match of our full $2,000 goal (on a shiny over-sized check), doubling our total! Check out the YouTube highlight from our stream.

Extra Life Check

After our chat with Megan, the real gaming began. Members of our team, friends and family settled in for what would be an epic overnight LAN. We played some classic games, got multiple chicken dinners in PUBG and had a rousing game of Overcooked (the best game to both play and yell at your friends). We even played some unique custom games in Overwatch, of which Leala was crowned the undisputed queen of hide and seek. While some of us tapped out at the 16 or 20 hour mark, the true champions made it the full 24-hours, to 9 AM Saturday morning. Hats off to the true soldiers of the night: Jordan, Cody, Kenny and Samuel.

Throughout the stream, donations continued to roll in bringing Team Outfox's final fundraising total to $4,752, which will go to Dell Children's Medical Center in Austin. We are so proud to be able to contribute to this great cause. We'll start resting up now for next year!
